Jewelry Party
Last night I had the chance to get together with some friends and family and try on some jewelry. We were introduced to the new fall colors of blues and greens and purples, but also, discovered that gold is coming back into fashion. I haven't seen much of gold jewelry after graduating high school. I guess trends really do cycle!

Ruffle Scarf class
Here is a picture of some of the lovely ladies who were students in my Ruffle Scarf making class offered by the Bullitt County Adult Community Education. I had a fun time teaching and they had a good time learning a craft that looks so hard but is really so easy! I foresee many hand-crafted Christmas gifts this year!

Cleaning up the Toxins!
Last week my neighbor introduced me to a cleaner, safer way to clean house for myself, my family, and my environment. It is a company called Melaleuca and they focus on using natural elements that aren't harmful to use. I placed my first order tonight and I am really excited to get my supplies and start trading out some harsh chemical cleaners for non-chemical cleaners. Maybe my house will actually smell like lemons instead of lemon scented bleach!

Phone Interview
Last week while grading papers, I received a phone call from a middle school in my town who wanted to interview me for a middle school math position. If I knew I wouldn't break a hip, I probably would've done a cartwheel! The interview was for later on that day via the phone. I was nervous, but thankfully the assistant principal that I spoke with was friendly and conversational so my nerves quickly eased and we had a nice conversation about teaching practices and situations. It may be the end of the month before I hear something official, but I am thankful that someone at least pulled my resume and was interested in talking to me. That at least gives me a little more hope that getting back into full-time teaching is a possibility. If I knew how many people he was interviewing, I could turn that into a probability example for my night math class. Or, maybe it's better not to know!

This week's big project
This week since it is the last week of August my plan is to create a daily chore chart as well as meal planning chart for September. Granted, I know that it is pretty sad that I have to put "make a chore chart" on my to do list, but as I walk through the house I see all of these little cleaning things that need to be done. Yet, I get stuck in the rut of laundry and dishes and forget everything else. Thankfully, I have seen a few ideas that have worked for people on Pinterest so I am going to modify them so that they work for my house cleaning needs. The ultimate goal is to keep the house tidy AND clean and limit the amount of dust and dirt that settles in so many places. The meal chart is to try to reduce the amount of money we waste eating out all of the time and hopefully feel healthier and have more energy if we aren't consuming fried, greasy foods on a daily basis. Yuck!

Some updates
Oh my, it has bit a minute since I last commented about life's events! Well, here is a quick catch up.
A few weeks ago, I went to my parents' and spent the night. This wasn't a get away from Scott sleepover...it was a help Mom clean house which quickly turned into a paint the dining room visit. I don't have a picture to show, but the nieces and I suggested a bright yellow as a serious change from the white, scuff marked walls, and Mom agreed to it. I heard mention of Dad and Mom painting the wood trim white but that hasn't happened yet, so it might just be a rumor.
A new course at Brown Mackie started last week. I am teaching a Professional Development course and a Sociology Independent Study course. So far, things are going well. Students seem to be understanding the module system pretty well which gives me time to work with individual students while the class as a whole works independently. I guess the downside to the course setup is that with so many smaller tasks in each module I am grading an extra 2-4 hours each day to stay caught up. Thankfully, the projects are one page or less else with 40 students I would never be caught up!
Softball season is coming to an end but bowling season is about to begin! I've decided to just be the sub bowler instead of full time this season.
The big thing on the brain is the job search. Unfortunately, the search is slow and I didn't get hired into a school system. There are a couple big feelers out so hopefully one of them will pan out. Otherwise I may have to consider babysitting for extra income! :) Stay tuned!

Lunch with the Lee family
For some reason, I didn't even think to get a picture of this event but I wanted to share it anyway. This past weekend our friends from Maryland - the Lee family- came to Louisville for a vacation. After church, several of us went to Aspen Creek in Louisville to fellowship and spend time with them while they were in town. It was a nice time and I was also able to hang out with other friends that I don't normally get to socialize with much outside of church. Oh and the poor server was a saint and so patient with his first big group of 17 people!
Congrats on the new baby, Spring and John, even if the ultrasound makes "it" look like a groundhog! I'm sure in October he/she will look perfect!

Busy Week!
Welcome to summer (unofficially) where the daylight is longer, but so is the to do list!
This week has been especially busy, probably moreso for Scott than me. We are having an enjoyable time hanging out with the pre schoolers and playing games at VBS. Blowing bubbles has seemed to be the crowd favorite so far.
The ditch that was dug for the sump pump pipe is kicking our booties this week. The pipe is not wanting to cooperate and lay flat so extra hand digging has been needed. Now, some of the fittings aren't wanting to stay glued and connected. I actually just returned from Lowe's with more PVC things so hopefully that will solve the issues so that we can get the pipe buried and our yard back to order!
I'm still working on Scott's t-shirt quilt but the process is at a standstill until he finds three more shirts to use. Plus, he is on the church's mowing committee and this just happens to be his week, hence extra projects outside of work.
Well, now I'm going to see about mowing our front yard before having to go back to VBS tonight. Both neighbors mowed their yards this morning so now the pressure is on to get ours looking good again, instead of like a jungle!

Parental Guidance
The hubby and I watched the movie Parental Guidance last night since our softball game was rained out. It stars Billy Crystal, Bette Midler, and Marisa Tomei. I highly recommend it! The movie was funny yet had some great teachable moments for kids, parents, and grandparents. A terrific movie to enjoy as a family!

Softball game 1
Last night was the first game of the summer co ed softball league of the season. Our team didn't fare so well at the end, but I think it was more fun being able to laugh at our mistakes than to get upset about them. The fellowship at chick fil A after the game was a lot of fun, however! Missy had some crazy stories to share with everyone about the Grand Canyon and some past (really weird) dreams.

Hello to Blogging
It has happened....I'm becoming part of the postmodern, share your life online, computer junkie world! :). This is definitely an experiment, but we'll see how it goes. So far I have created 3 blogs just to keep the content organized....the closest thing to online binders that I could find. I'm really excited about my upcoming and current quilting projects, so hopefully the ideas that I post will help other quilters as their blogs and pictures have been helping me. This is definitely a cheaper and more diverse way of getting help as well as project ideas, so even if I decide that blogging is too time consuming for me, I'm glad that others out there find time for it.
Ok, we'll that's my hello to blogging for now! There are other things on the to do list to accomplish today. Maybe I will share my task completion progress later?!?!
